P: Export isn't resizing exactly to specified long edge

Bug report submitted by Rob Cole on behalf of Soulflare007, who was having problems with login/AdobeID...Lightroom 5's export isn't resizing exactly to specified long edge. For example, when I restrict long edge to 1920, the exported files are 1919. Same with 1024, I get 1023px files instead. If I export from Adobe Bridge, then the long edges are calculated correctly. This problem didn't happen with LR4. Files being exported were DNG and TIF.More info here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/54380...

To be honest I've never used the 'Do Not Enlarge' checkbox and can't think of a good reason to use it. Please explain the specific reason why you are using it and perhaps I can provide a better solution for now.

I just tested this. And this work-around now has Lighthroom enlarging any smaller image to the specified long edge. That is just great. I want my money back.

So how do we now keep it from enlarging images to fit the long edge?

So this problem is not fixed. Is it too difficult for Adobe to get this fixed six months after the problem was reported?

Thanks for the info on this, tearing my hair out earlier - unchecked the 'Do Not Enlarge' and it's sorted the problem - not ideal but at least it's working.

Thank you Matthias and Todd for investigating this. I have checked your findings and agree with them. It would appear that LR interprets "Don't Enlarge" as "Don't Resize" in some circumstances. I am still trying to see if there are other factors that come into play. By altering the export size from (for instance) 200dpi to 200dpcm, the crop is in fact enlarged to such a degree that the long side of the exported jpg exceeds that of the original raw image, in px. So the instruction "Don't Enlarge" is executed not merely as "leave dimensions untouched, even if longer than the size requested or necessary" but as "Enlarge this image whatever happens, even if told not to do so". To be continued..

Ah yes, it happens with 'Custom' aspect ratio crops. I can confirm this now.

It appears ANY 'Custom' Crop Aspect Ratio with 'Don't Enlarge' checked in the Export Resize panel prevents the image from being resized.

The file is exported, but not resized, so I can confirm this issue with LR5.3 on my Windows 7 system using Martin's settings.

If 'Don't Enlarge' is unchecked it works, even though the file is clearly NOT being enlarged!

Ok, I did that too. Still working fine for me. I'll keep an eye on the issue.
