In the Export dialog, provide the option to add a border. Nothing fancy - any colour so long as it's black - and give control over its width in pixels. And of course, make sure too that it is added after any sharpening.

People simply shouldn't need to rely on plug-ins for this, not after 3 versions of the program.

"Export" please allow us to add borders. (Feature request!)

Meanwhile, may be this plugin can help (I have never tried it.)

Even better: Add this feature "Add Border" to the Develop Module!

You might be interested in the LR/Mogrify plugin which "... allows you to add outer and inner borders, watermarks and text annotations to your images." The plugin is available as donationware here. Read the Quickquide for a description of its features.

In the Print module you can add a stroke border to the image and then print (export) to a JPG file.  In the Export dialog you can modify the image sizing.  It would be wonderful if you could add stroke border to the Export options and add resizing to the Print module.

Currently you have to print to JPG with a stroke border then Import back into lightroom.  Then Export and select the resizing options. It seems like you should be able to do both in either module.

Thanks for the tip. This works really well, except when I have applied a crop to the image. If I have, then this will produce lop sided results and still requires Photoshop to perform a Canvas resize under Image.

Just go into the Transform panel and lower the scale value from 100.  A white border will appear.  Unfortunately, white is the only color choice you have but in your case it will work perfectly.

Add option to create a key line around an image in Lightroom. I do find that sometimes the only reason for taking an image into PS from LR is so I can add a white border around it. It would be very useful if this could be possible in Lightroom.

Yes i know that but my point is why cant we have a simple process in the develop module like Picasa used to have. From a software coding viewpoint this would be incredibly easy to acomplish

Set up a Print preset, then it becomes very easy to "Print to File" multiple images from the Lr Print module with a simple Stroke border.

Set Paper Setup for Borderless, (image to 'fill' cell)
Set Stroke width & color
Use 'All Filmstrip Photos' or 'Selected Photos'
Set 'Print To:"  as JPEG File
[Print to File...]
Save the Preset Template.
Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

You can use the LR/Mogrify 2 plugin for this: https://www.photographers-toolbox.com/products/lrmogrify2.php
