How do I display file names in grid display for the cloud based Lightroom CC on my desktop?   I see how to do this on the mobile version, but I'm not having any luck on the desktop one.

Thanks

Steve

Yes. That's why I was replying to Timothy. He listed Lightroom+Photoshop+1 TB at $10/month. No such animal.

@CumberLinda

Lightroom + Photoshop (20 GB) and Lightroom + 1 TB are the same price.

If you want 1TB and Photoshop. - the price doubles.

I was responding to Timothy's description of a Lightroom plan (not Photography plan) at $10/month that includes Photoshop. Adding Photoshop would double the cost, right? And would be the same as the Photography Plan with 1 TB?

@CumberLinda  The Lightroom Ecosystem 1 TB plan is available both with and without PS.

The Lightroom plan does not include Photoshop, though I see some mis-information on Adobe's site. Look at the plan comparisons: Compare plans and pricing to find the one that’s right for you.

If you switch products, make sure to talk to the Adobe CSR team and look at your subscription plan.

I know the slightly dated names, so you should verify with Adobe.

There is the Photography Plan for $10 a month; includes Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, Lightroom with 20GB of cloud storage and a few other things.

Then there is the Lightroom Plan for $10 a month; includes Lightroom with 1TB of cloud storage and Photoshop.

I find Adobe has made this as clear as mud. And yes, Lightroom Classic will be around for a long time to come. Here is a summary of the differences between the products: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/lightroom-cc-vs-classic-features/   It is roughly a year old but should give you good handle the basics.

There are also a number of products and abbreviations. Here are the common ones:

LrC = Lightroom Classic: This is the continuation of the older folder based Lightroom product.

Lr = Lightroom: The generic catch all name for all the products in the Cloud Ecosystem:

LrM = Lightroom Mobile. The Android/iOS versions of Lightroom.

LrW = Lightroom Web: browser based access to the cloud. https://lightroom.adobe.com  Has a majority of the functionality available to Lr.

LrD = Lightroom Desktop: Desktop applications for Windows/Mac which still depend and are fully synced back to the cloud.

Lightroom Classic should have just been left as "Lightroom".

Yes, I wrote that before I tried the Classic Version. Thanks for the tip. I think the fact that there are 2 software packages with basically the same name confuses a lot of us. I was even aware there are 2 versions, but didn't realize that Lightroom Classic doesn't seem to be a legacy product, but an updated software that is part of the Adobe CC suite of tools.

You should consider Lightroom Classic instead of the cloud focused Lightroom. Based on the comments, you are likely using the wrong product from Adobe.

Lightroom Classic is a traditional folder/directory image management based solution which uses a local database (catelog) to store meta data and other information. In Classic, file names are important. It also has super resolution and the same editing features as Lightroom desktop (which is cloud focused).

Perhaps Adobe thinks, "Hey, just look at the info bar for the filenames".

The problem here is that the info panel size can't be changed, and for longer filenames, it doesn't show a popup on hovering. So yeah, you literally can't see the filenames on longer named files. What kind of software for organizing/editing files doesn't show the name of the file?? This is very annoying, I use Photoshop mostly, and was looking into Lightroom for the "Super Resolution" option. Also thought the side by side comparing could be handy. Guess I won't be using Lightroom much unless I need to upscale something. Maybe someone can get ChatGPT to write a lightroom plugin for this! Or just incorporate all of the features into Photoshop, at least the super resolution option. Photoshop tabs are ridiculous too though, they have the opposite problem, displays tons of info most people don't need to see, thus making it pointless to have tabs. Please fix! This is Adobe after all...these are supposed to be top of the line softwares for imaging professionals!

It's also very confusing in that you aren't viewing the original files, just copies of them on the cloud. Why force the entire software to be on the cloud? Not everyone works that way, I prefer to work locally usually. If I use Lightroom, I will have duplicates floating around, making for a more confusing file management process.

Thank you for reading.

PS: I would threaten to change to another software, but who am I kidding, no other software comes close to the workflow of Photoshop. So that I can appreciate!
