Scott, scroll down a bit to Josh Haftel's post. They didn't stay silent. He's the product manager for mobile, and he explained some of the technical limitations they're facing.

Regarding the restriction limiting the number of photos exported out of Lightroom mobile at a single time to just 15...

I find this disingenuous becase Adobe has enabled the ability to import quite literally hundreds of photos at a single time (maximum I’ve tested is 883).

Moreover, Adobe has obviously put significant effort into education and marketing material to explain how to get media into Lightroom Mobile, but there is a distinct lack of material - search and you literaly get nothing relevant - regarding exports; it makes me suspicious about their intentions.

I’m willing to give Adobe the benefit of the doubt; however, the inability to batch export large selections or whole albums to either the camera roll or file manager is a glaring oversight that frankly seems shaddy to me in light of the ease of which we can mass import. If there are technical limitations, or if the design approach is that mass-export is only to be completed on a proper full size PC, that’s fine... but please, Adobe, don’t stay silent. Put the same effort you gave into selling us on Lightroom Mobile into explaining the current limitations of the platform and what your development expectations are going forward.

I won’t continue using Lightroom Mobile if I cannot mass-export from my iPhone or iPad. Unfortunately, the mobile experience is excellent, and more efficient than the desktop, up to the last steps of the cull/edit/share then store cycle... being blocked at the end is exceedingly frustrating as sharing is the Whibley point.

Looking forward to a response Adobe. Thanks for listening!

Sort this out!! We need to be able to export whole albums! We don’t what to have to connect to a computer to do so. The thought of that in 2018 is ludicrous as we are going more mobile based then ever. SORT IT OUT!

I’ve noticed other apps cannot batch process either, so yes I would agree that it’s not as simple as Lightroom allowing more images to export. Apple needs to address this.

Another simple way I believe Adobe could get by this and help us is to create software built into Lightroom that can change a Mcat file into a Lrcat file (Lightroom mobile to Lightroom catalog), so we can copy our mcat folder over which contains everything from our RAW photos to the Xmp info and open it on a desktop and finish the process there. Just like when somebody shares a catalog with another person, same principle.

This should be simple enough,. If adobe can allow Lightroom cc to sync and communicate between mobile and desktop, there is already some sort of conversion process happening between iOS and OS.

It's all done locally (e.g. on your iPad) so you can still export while offline, therefore it's limited by the iPad's resources. See Josh's comment above:

One of the biggest issues still is that Lightroom (and other apps that write to and interact with the filesystem) cannot run in the background. An app like Lr is able to continue running in the background for up to 15 minutes after the user closes the app, but only until the iOS memory manager needs to recover the memory currently used by Lightroom (which is actually quite considerable, as we're doing quite a lot of heavy lifting of large files)

Moving that conversion process off to the cloud so you can download the results would be very cool though!

The reason given that the “app” is the limitation is somewhat confusing. Granted I am not the developer, so this may be totally off, but here is how I understand the app behaves.

Full size RAW images are mapped via the LRCatalog to the smart previews which are stored locally on desktop and downloaded in memory on mobile. All edits are mapped to the LRCat file in the cloud and thus synced across devices.

When the user selects export, they are simply telling the cloud to render full resolution jpgs from the RAW file using the most updated LRCat edits for each image. These files are then downloaded to the user defined output location.

If this is close, why can’t the heavy lifting occur in the cloud, running in a queue and storing the files in a temporary folder or even web gallery until the operation completes. After it’s complete a notification could be sent to the user and the finished files downloaded or even shared with a client.

Seems to make sense to me, could even have that be a feature to charge for, like free ### files in the cloud or free ### gallery in the cloud , etc.,

This is the biggest thing separating me from using Lightroom mobile. It is the difference between shooting 500 images st my sons baseball game, processing them and having them uploaded for all the families within the hour at a coffee shop, and having to drag around my MacBook Pro and do all the editing there. Editing photos on my iPad quickly actually got me back into photography, now that I’m back in the whole swing this limitation is killing my momentum and motivation. I’m now two days since my sons last game and the SD card is still in the camera because I haven’t had the flexibility to edit them on mobile. PLEASE fix. I’ll let it process for 30 minutes if I need to, it’s an iPad. Once I’m done it just churns away And I’m off doing the next thing. I use Lightroom mobile to get editing tasks done sandwiched in the middle of my day whenever and wherever.

Please adobe sort this out, we need full album or collection export. If you have limitation with iOS or Apple, create a workflow extension when sharing that repeats itself over and over, choosing the next 15 images automatically and so on.

Exactly my problem using it. iPad pro is very capable and I normally shoot 100s - 2000 images on a shoot and make a selection of 25% and Mobile CC is great for on the go.
The speed we can import and edit is great.
But when it comes to exporting them out , really limited , completely messes up the lovely workflow.
Also why can't it export in the background? , its terrible that it takes over lightroom when its doing this.
+1 for preset sync , as I've prob mentioned before I want select a whole bunch of images in an album and then copy and paste the same grade to them all. I don't want to have to do this one by one to 100's!

Its so close to being great!
