I would like to switch to the new Lightroom CC, but being able to sort images in my collections/albums by Custom/User Order like I can in Classic is an absolute requirement for my workflow.

Adobe likes to brand themselves as the interface for creative professionals. To not have a custom sort function totally negates the software's creative function.

So disappointed Lightroom CC can't figure this one out. Our visual language is created not just through a single image, but rather made through the interaction of images. Sequence, pattern, rhythm, this next to this .... this is how we process what we see.

Victoria, Is there a timeline for this fix to Lightroom? At this point the program has really become unusable in my art practice.

Petr, the desktop app can't actually set a custom order yet. It can only display a custom order elsewhere (such as in the mobile apps).

I am very confused – after setting "Custom Order" in the desktop app, I still can't sort the photos in my own desired order 😞

Don't take too much notice of the labelling - it's only the language Adobe uses internally. They just call it a feature request because the functionality that is already there is working as designed, and this is new functionality they need to add to the desktop app.

Can the moderators please change the status from "Idea" to "Problem". Because one can already "Sort Custom Order" an album. But one cannot change the order manually in the Desktop App. It is possible in the Web and Mob app though. Which makes it a bug!

It is astonishing that software advertised as created for photographers doesn't allow us to order photos within albums so we can tell our stories. This isn't a nice-to-have feature they might consider adding a year later. It's something that's absolutely fundamental to anyone who wants to tell a story with their images. Lightroom CC is utterly useless to me. I don't use it. I have an Adobe photography subscription that gives me Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, and Lightroom CC with much less storage. I create my albums in Lightroom Classic and use SmugMug for my online albums. I don't care about the Lightroom CC storage since it, like Lightroom CC, is useless to me. I am considering using ON1 instead.

I have been waiting for this now for OVER 6 MONTHS!!! I have asked this a thousand times to customer care.

How can something SO little (dev time), SO essential (for every photographer), take SO MUCH TIME!

My patience has gone. If it isn't there in the next update, I will cancel my subscription and rather use Classic.

I am paying now over 6 months for this, but because of my workflow I keep using Classic. Meaning I am paying CC for nothing!

iOS has been developed for a few more years than the desktop version. It just had a head start. I do agree this is a high priority request.

oh please... just stick to what you can really call "done" instead of throwing some lame excuses on us.

If something in a update doesn't work fully as expected it's a bug, not a feature. Save it for some future update, when it's ready.

Fair enough. It's busy. But this isn't some half-cooked experimental thing, it's the flagship, an expensive program, and custom sorting is something nearly every serious user relies on. Please help them rocket this to the top of the list!
