Action Scripts from past versions

If it's possible, I'd like a way to use quick actions (like oil paint effect or water color) from a previous version of PS in a newer one.

I'll often purchase an effect I absolutely love (as does my client) only to not need it for sometime. Meanwhile PS gets multiple upgrades. Then I need that effect again and it's no longer compatible with the new version.

If there is a way for PS to see the features needed in a specific action script which have either changed or been removed and re-install them to the current version so the scripts we've bought can still be used, that would be pure gold.

I've bought so many action scripts that I love but can't use anymore and newer ones will not only stop working (based on experience) but I know when I buy them they aren't going to be of any use a year from now. Very Frustrating.

Well then, there you have it. I didn't really think so but, where my career has been spent using these amazing applications and not coding them, I wouldn't know (I did suspect). Just thought I'd throw it out there.

I feel for all the artists who spend long hours developing very impressive action scripts only to find they're obsolete due to an application upgrade. As I mentioned to Kevin, the time involved to in trying to get them to work (for me anyway) isn't worth the time. It's not like updating a plugin.

Thanks everyone.

There is no way for Adobe to magically upgrade scripts or extensions when features change. That doesn't happen with any add-on software anywhere.

Thanks. I'm aware of that. I've been using PS since 1.0. I get how if works and what the methods to make scripts function if they're outdated. I don't know how many times I've wrestled with attempting to get a script to work, updated necessary parts, restarted, have it hang on the next missing piece, repeat the process etc. etc. That takes a lot of time.

Further, it takes more time still for the author to get back to you and often if/when they do they don't have an upgrade. I've even bought some that are "supposed" to be compatible and they aren't. You don't need to write nback to tell me I should return the script - I get it. I do. More time wasted.

The point was a way to automate the process. I think we all spend enough time (that isn't compensated for) maintaining our systems/applications. Time is money.

@CSI Productions unfortunately its up to the user to review the action/java script code and update the parts that no longer function. See if the developers you purchased from have updates for previous customers.
