Add guidelines as layers (like in Illustrator)

I often need to switch between multiple guide layouts in the same PSD document and the current [View > Guines > New Guides...] doesn't allow doing that.

Important functionality is misisng.
Please add guides as layers, so then all sorts of setups will become easily doable.
You can add this functionality without removing the previous one if you're worried about breaking changes.

For example, my original assets are 256 px but I need to scale them to 240 px grid to work on them and for export I need 160 px grid, so I have a need to switch between 3 grids all the time.

I tried Artboards in Photoshop 26.10 (late 2025) but they were completely buggy and unusable (quickly increase RAM to 64 GB and crash Photoshop). So, the entire workflow is much worse than in Illustrator currently.

Until such a feature is possibly added, I can only think of hacks/workarounds.

Here you can find a script to convert guides to paths:

Another option is to record the placement of the guides for each set into an action. Then the action can clear and apply the guides as needed to "switch" between sets.
