Adjustment Panels are too Big

I have a 16” Mac Book Pro M5. The screen is big enough to work but every time I open a panel like Layer Style for example, it covers too much of the screen. I have to keep moving it away from the image so I can see what it’s doing. The windows can’t be resized and I think a new.more modern alternative should exist. It’s been the same box for 30 years. Everybody Is moving away from moving panels, like Lightroom or even camera raw where everything lives on the right hand of the screen without any distractions.

Either make them smaller, or remove unnecessary space on a panel that can't even be resized.

 In this example, everything inside the red could be a lot smaller or condensed.

I watch some Photoshop tutorial videos on YouTube and I always see the presenters moving Panels all over the place not to cover an image on the screen… It happens to me every day and it’s frustrating.

After 27 versions of Photoshop the panels haven’t evolved at all.

    There is an “ongoing update” called Modern User Interface, which is being rolled out piece by piece, one dialog at a time it seems.

    They’ll probably get to this one too, eventually.

    @ppdix

    Have you considered using a second larger monitor with your 16” MacBook Pro?

    (Your post is in Feature Requests, so my question and your answer will not affect consideration from the Photoshop team.)

    Hi Jane, no. It shouldn’t be necessary to use 2 screens when the 30 year old UI could be improved instead, I use a Mac Book Pro for portability as well as convenience.

    But thanks for the suggestion.

    Cheers

    Unfortunately, some of us have real trouble seeing micro-sized UI text and panels.  The way to work when you have limited screen space is to make full use of the default shortcuts to turn the panels you need on, and then off again.  Spring loaded shortcuts are useful in this respect as well.  Remember, there are now 41 million people with legit CC subscriptions, and you are the first person I remember having the same issue as you.  In fact it is usually the other way round.
