Topaz’ offerings seem to produce decent results.

I appreciate the options, I too, am looking for a professional upscale plugin. 20 some years ago, Fractal Design was the rage. What would you consider the best upscale plugin of the many you're aware of?

OK

I've told you two ways.
1. If using camera raw, on raw images, then use Enhance within Adobe Camera Raw.
2. If you want AI upscaling within Photoshop today, then search for, and purchase, an AI upscaling plug in. There are plenty around.

Your request for a future AI upscaling algorithm has been moved to 'ideas'. There is nothing more I can add.

If you are using raw images, you can already do that in Camera Raw.

Other file formats require a plug in, at present, several of which are available from different plug in sellers.

As an aside, whilst the enhanced scaling can look remarkable, it is not without issue. Using AI to add, or in other words generate, image content/detail is absolutely prevented in some workflows. For example it is common to see AI generated content banned from images and illustrations in book publishing, or images entered in competitions. That is why some customers have asked for any generative AI functionality to be clearly switchable in Preferences so that they are not inadvertently caught out by a function that does not appear to be generative AI but actually is using that function.
