Automatic Puppet Warp Pin Placement & Edge Straightening

I photograph ~100 winning quilts each year for a national competition. Each quilt needs correction for sagging, buckling, uneven hanging, and perspective issues. My workflow includes ACR Guided Upright, Perspective Warp, Puppet Warp, cropping, cloning, and border creation.

The bottleneck is Puppet Warp. I must manually place 40–50 pins around the quilt edges and adjust each one to straighten the lines without distorting the design. This takes 20–25 minutes per quilt and results in 40–50 hours of repetitive manual editing per project. It also causes neck and shoulder strain.

I’m requesting a feature that:

  1. Automatically detects object boundaries (similar to Select Subject).

  2. Automatically places Puppet Warp pins along the edges.

  3. Optionally straightens those edges by adjusting the pins inward/outward.

  4. Allows manual refinement afterward.

This would dramatically reduce editing time, improve consistency, and benefit anyone working with textiles, product photography, museum imaging, or non‑rigid planar objects.

Attached are 4 images showing -

2 After ACR Guided Lines and after Perspective Warp

3 During pin allocation in Puppet Warp

4 After final edit, crop, clone and border

Thanks for your help, happy to provide sample RAW files if needed
