Enhancement Idea for Photoshop: Integrating Camera Raw into Adjustment Layers

Hello Adobe Team and Photoshop Community,

I'm a Photoshop user with 15 years of experience, and I've come up with an idea that could significantly enhance the workflow in Photoshop, particularly for creators involved in image manipulation.

Idea: Integration of Camera Raw features into Adjustment Layers.

Details:

  1. Adjustment Layer Feature: Implement Camera Raw settings as part of Photoshop's adjustment layers. This would include elements like the Basic Panel, Color Pane, HSL, Camera Calibration, and Color Grading.

  2. Layer-Specific Adjustments: By having Camera Raw in adjustment layers, users can apply settings to individual layers without navigating away to filters.

  3. Enhanced Color and Light Matching: This feature would allow creators to adjust light and color settings on a single layer while observing and matching them with other layers in real time.

  4. Efficiency and Accuracy: The integration would provide a more efficient workflow, enabling faster and more precise color and lighting adjustments.

This idea aims to streamline the editing process, making it more intuitive and effective, especially for complex image manipulations.

I believe this enhancement can significantly benefit the Photoshop community, and I'm eager to hear your thoughts and feedback.

The Camera Raw filter, applied as a smart filter, already works this way.

But I agree that a re-editable Camera Raw filter could be a good idea, without needing to go the smart object route. In other words, as a functional adjustment layer.

However, spreading the ACR functions out over other adjustment layers sounds like a very inefficient approach with too much unnecessary overhead.
