Feature Request: Restore PDF Saving for Large-Format Documents Over 30,000 Pixels

I’m a professional designer who regularly creates large-format artwork for commercial print. Until Photoshop 27.9, I was able to save my large PSB files as Photoshop PDFs, including documents exceeding 30,000 pixels in one dimension.

This was not an occasional use case. It became part of my regular production workflow. My completed artwork could be maintained as a PSB and supplied to my commercial printer as a PDF, which is the delivery format they require.

Since updating Photoshop, the Photoshop PDF option is no longer available for these documents. I have also tested the newly released Photoshop 27.10, and the restriction remains. I confirmed the change using existing PSB files that I had previously saved successfully as PDFs. The files have not changed. The available output options in Photoshop have.

I understand from Adobe’s responses that the ability to save these documents as PDFs was the result of a previous change in Photoshop that was not originally intended. However, that behaviour was available for approximately two years. During that time, professional users working in large-format print understandably incorporated it into established production workflows.

PSB and TIFF are not equivalent replacements. PSB is a working-file format and is not appropriate for delivery to many commercial printers. TIFF may be suitable in some circumstances, but when a printer requires PDF, removing PDF output creates an unnecessary additional production problem.

I have now had to roll Photoshop back to version 27.8 solely to regain this functionality. That means I cannot use current versions of Photoshop without giving up an important part of my professional print workflow.

Please restore the ability to save large-format documents exceeding 30,000 pixels as Photoshop PDFs, or provide a supported PDF export method for large-format commercial print work.

If there is a technical reason the previous implementation cannot be restored as-is, large-format users still need a practical way to produce the PDFs our printers require without remaining indefinitely on an outdated version of Photoshop.
