Invalid Shortcuts
Hey, I'm looking to remap large parts of default hotkeys to work in the way I'm the most comfortable in. But many times I run into the message "is an invalid shortcut. You can only use .." which I find to be strange.
Thinking about what the hotkey editor is as a function within the software, it is for me to change the way the software was made to be interacted with, to how I wish to interact with it. So if I for some reason I want to use any modifiers for 'Tools' such as ctrl, alt or shift, there should be no reason for it to restrict me. I understand that there is most likely a technical reason within how the software in how it's built for why I'm currently not able to use what I would like, and that is why I bring this up.
Many people I work with that want to set their hotkeys for productivity and efficiency have to resort to other means by using AutoHotKey or other softwares that spoofs keypresses such as a key remapper software. And it just strikes me odd that people have to run around the software when this could be addressed.
This is not about a specific hotkey I want to set but more a fundamental issue of restriction of shortcut personalization. Many people work in different ways and have alternate ways of doing the same thing which they are most comfortable with, and while I wouldn't want to use their setup, it definitely is something I completely understand why they would want to work in their own manner.
Removing these restrictions most likely come with a lot of problems that might be grand in scale of solving, but it truly is not where it should be today. Many softwares today now offer the ability to map with no restriction whatsoever, which can be scary to give a userbase that amount of control. But with that control it allows users to finally work in their preferred way.
I can understand why this could be a huge undertaking, but I would highly stress that this would be amazing for many of us who work with Photoshop daily. To finally be able to work in our own way.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
