Launch apps faster

Starting Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, … can take up to 13 seconds to fully load and be operational on my 2 year old M3 Pro MacBook Pro (36gb ram). Could you please improve the launch time of the apps? (Affinity Studio launches in 6 seconds, PhotoCraft launches in 1,5 seconds). Thank you.

My times are similar to Dag’s which does not cause me an issue.
I do remove very large brush sets when I am not using them (e.g. one particular set is 11GB on disk). This has an impact on opening times and using the brushes has a big impact on subsequent closing times.

You could try launching with Shift held down, to see if third party plugins are slowing it down. Anything you see in the Splash Screen while PS opens is taking up time.  AFAIAA that still includes fonts, for instance.  Do you have a lot of fonts installed?

Haven’t seen this for a while. I remember it was a frequent complaint back around, oh, CS3, thereabouts. Then they shipped the next version that launched in about 2 or 3 seconds. Turned out they just skipped loading modules until they were needed, or something like that.

I expect a complex application to take a bit of time to fully load, there’s a lot of stuff going in there, and this isn’t something that has crossed my mind. Just out of curiosity I timed it, and it came in at 8.5 seconds cold, 5.5 seconds warm (Windows 11). I have no problems with that. Of course, opening an image is a separate process that will add its own time, depending on the file size and compression.

We have to tell it like it is: programs such as Adobe Photoshop are state-of-the-art. There are extremely powerful and still the best there are. The modules are extremely powerful and the results are stunning. But the downside is that this comes at the expense of start-up time. Anyone who frequently has to switch between programs or versions feels the impact of this. It would be great if users could choose which modules are loaded at start-up, and which are loaded when they’re first used. Not everyone uses every module or feature all the time.
