Merge Lasso and Polygonal Lasso into one tool?

Holding Alt just does not work for me on lasso tool,

There's a little bit of timing to master on when to hold down and when to release Alt and the mouse button.

• Moving from Lasso to Polygonal Lasso
  If you release the mouse, the selection closes. Keep holding the mouse button down as you press the Alt key to switch tools. 
• Moving from Polygonal Lasso Tool to Lasso
  Hold down Alt and start to drag the mouse, then release Alt

Practice a few times until it clicks.

Holding Alt just does not work for me on lasso tool, idk why thank you anyways I will try to solve it

Both of these tools allow you to toggle the function to the other by holding down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac). Practice a little first to get the hang of when to hold Alt down and when to let it go.

As to closing:

Polygonal Lasso tool: Click once on the beginning point (the mouse cursor will have a circle) or double-click anywhere

Lasso tool: release the mouse
