P: Ability to choose a specific font from disk when resolving missing one

Hi ! I can't seem to find a way to choose a specific font from the complete list of installed font, instead of having some kind of random shortlist. Is there such an option ? If not, will that be implemented in the feature ?

It's Really annoying to open the file, not being able to resolve with the right font, and then having to do it manually (fiter fonts in layer panel > then select the concerned layers and have to browse - getting around the instant preview/replace issue - and then select the right font, and click ok or press enter for every single layer -__-')

Thanks for the help !

Good news everyone. I sacrificed six days and created a script that can do what you want. I am not sure why Adobe did not do it in three years.

Purpose is remaping any selected text layers fonts. Not only missing fonts in all document.

A client of mine purchased a Photoshop template they'd like me to use for a web page. But they want me to change all the fonts. And as such I have to modify dozens of individual text layers one by one.

Adobe obviously doesn't need to make their products usable, since they get monthly payments anyway. Thankfully competition gets better and there are currently very good alternatives to Photoshop that can open psd files.

I consider moving whole my company to the alternative product since Adobe ignores for years bugs that are simple to repair and very costly for users.

Adobe are making their money off the masses of individual "amateur" PS/Adobe Suite users these days they don't have to worry about the few professionals who make their living using their products. I was just complaining on a MS forum about Excel (yes I have to use it!) that just to view it I have to click through a few options every time I get a new file or fire a couple of macros - it's only a few seconds, but at the end of the year that's nearly $4,000 lost. I have time issues with PS, Illy and Acrobat, that affect my productivity. And every "update" they change the shortcut keys - more time lost, very frustrating.

So in 2 years this issue has not been fixed, even if the "sister" applications have a solution for this? I am very disappointed.
My company pays a good license fee for my Adobe CC, Photoshop is my daily tool, this fail costs my company money in my time wasted and me a lot of grey hair!

Thanks for the feedback.  You've raised some excellent points and I've again raised the issue for consideration.

Thanks,

Hey, PhotoShop! I'm the one who raised this in the first place. See how upset we all are?

This is still a problem! Still cannot substitute fonts in doc: Trade Gothic Bold to font on my system, Trade Gothic LT Bold. Why is this feature available on Indesign and not Photoshop, when are the features of creative cloud going to be uniform?! Why is the, frequently used, align panel in a different place on every adobe program???

Agreed.  If we can do it in other Adobe apps, we should be able to do it here with Photoshop.
