P: Add WebP format in the “Export As” dialog

Adobe, please add WebP as an option in the Export As dialog. The current option is not acceptable. I want the same interface options for WebP as PNG, JPG, etc. when I choose to export for the web. WebP is becoming very popular and I'm surprised you haven't included it yet.

WebP support is already pretty common, so having it directly in “Export As” would definitely make the workflow much easier.

Adobe should focus on what professionals need today. Easier WebP export is something I could use now (and 2 years ago). It’s already supported, its just in a different location. Seems more like Adobe moving the button and improving the UI vs new code.

I strongly disagree.
WebP will be deprecated in a few years.
In 2022 JPEG XL was blocked by Google Chrome to force WebP adoption, while the real value was and still is on JPEG XL for so many reasons, especially the brands relying on the optimum quality/compression on both lossy and lossless formats.
In December 2025, Google changed opinion and Chrome is adopting JPEG XL (still under a flag for testers in 2026).
When Chrome will remove the flag and the adoption becomes public, it is a matter of short time for all the other browsers to adopt it as well.

This is frankly ridiculous. I’ve never heard of JPEG XL but I have heard of webp and have to deal with it frequently. It’s practical to have photoshop deal with it better, even if JPEG XL becomes a thing, why would you strongly disagree with better support for webp? In the meantime it’s impractical not to have it, along with all the sites and services that won’t adopt new things.

Short term, of course yiu will have to deal with WebP.
Chrome public release is about to come on the next weeks.
Adoption, discovery/tests and adoption will take time. 1-2 years?

What I am saying is Adobe will put effort on the reality of the future, not on something that some day will end.

I have added my vote, Export As appears to be a (stalled) work in progress.

Just curious, what exact features from Export As and what's your workflow? Perhaps something could be scripted as a workaround until Adobe possibly add support for WebP (not to mention recent additions like AVIF).
