P: Better Preset Organization (sub-folders, tag, search)

I'd love a better way to organize brushes, shapes, and styles. Perhaps a way to tag them, then search or sort by tag.

This thread is 5 years old. Now we have update 2015.5
Still no brush organization -  Adobe is deaf on their ears.

With the abundance of Brush and Tool presets available now for Photoshop, we need a more robust way to organize and manage them. Two specific things I would like to see implemented. First, i would like to have a folder system to help organize my Tools. This would be helpful if we want to group them by style of brush, or collect a set of tools specific to a project. Secondly, I would like to be able to organize my Tools directly from the Tools palette, and not have to go into the Preset Manager. I should be able to click+drag to sort the list, create new folders and move Tools into them. Photoshop teases us because it seems that you can do a click+drag operation because the tile sticks to the cursor, but it's a big fakeout. I literally have hundreds of Tools that I have made myself, purchased and downloaded. Dealing with this huge assortment is a constant headache. (I suppose this suggestion applies not just to Tools and Brushes, but all the presets, but it is with tools that I find it most lacking).

The Photoshop Brushes system is so antiquated and clunky, it's undynamic and a general pain to use.

I would like to see a new Central Brush Library where all brushes are stored.
From which, various brush sets could be created that dynamically draw from that central library

This would enable the user to easily create brush sets that can be added to or removed from easily and also allow user to easily switch between sets in a much more modern style of design.

This would help eliminate duplicate brushes and the constant adding to or deleting brush sets that stand alone and help more easily use and distribute assets while working in Photoshop.

Would be cool if there would be function of collapsing the brushes. like, if u have brushes sorted by names above them, then u will be able to collapse with + and - buttons, brushes which are similar to each other. in such way managing a lot of brushes would be easier.  Sorry for my English. I hope that u understand what i said :))

Hey guys,

I have a custom swatch list numerically ordered from 1-900 (So I have roughly 900 swatches)

I want to be able to type in the swatch name to locate it, instead of scrolling through all of my swatches.

For example, I have a swatch called STEEL 045
I want to be able to type in Steel or 045 to pull that swatch up.

Does this make sense?

Also,

I am looking for a action or plug in that will automatically swipe a brush stroke across my image.

When the action begins, it prompts me to choose a color

I choose a color by typing the name in.

and it automatically does a brush stroke across my image, with option to do more strokes of different colors.

Thoughts/Feedback?

Changing the tip shape doesn't change other options, just the tip shape.
Only choosing a different brush or tool preset would change the other options.

Also, that appears to have nothing to do with this topic (preset management/organization)

I do not understand why, when i'm in brush options menu and i change the brush tip shape - all brush options change as if i have clicked brush preset. I see brush tip option equal to transfer or shape dynamics and i think brush preset shouldnt change everytime i change the tip shape.

When working with brushes it would be nice to easily select and delete multiple brushes from the brush drop down menu

Also brushes are typically loaded as sets, it would be great to see the name of the set. If it could work similar to the view of layers when you have groups or in this case sets of brushes, and you could expand or collapse groups of brushes.

Searchable brush presets: I have a lot of brush presets (maybe hundreds) and it's hard to scroll through and find the one I want. I would love to see a search bar in the brush preset panel similar to OS X's Spotlight so I can find specific brushes quickly.
