P: Photoshop 2025 v26 Gradient Fill & Map to remember last used state

Is there any way to set default Method in the Gradient Map to Classic?

Gradient Tool still (from PS 24) remembers last setting and it works with Classic as a default, but Gradient Mask (from Layer/New Adjustment Layer and from Image/Adjustments) always "starts" with default Perceptual Method.

Photoshop 26.4.1, Windows 10 Pro

Hey, @Solar99. Thanks for bringing this up. I've tried to recreate it, but in my case, the Gradient Fill layer sticks to Smooth. I'll need more information to help you figure this out. Please share screenshots or a video with this behavior and the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Does it behave as mentioned after a specific set of steps? What troubleshooting steps have you tried already?

Also, please test and confirm if the issue exists with Photoshop (Beta). You can get Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud > Apps tab > Beta Apps section.

Thanks!

You're correct - in lastest Photoshop it sticks to Smooth, but it doesn't matter - I would like Gradient Map to start with the last used Method or for this to be possible to set in preferences etc.

The Gradient Tool 'remembers' last used Method - when I change the Tool and go back to the Gradient Tool, it is still Method: Classic.

However, in the case of Gradient Map, every time I insert a new Adjustment Layer (from the Meny bar or from the Layer panel), the Method is set to Smooth, even though in the previous Gradient Map I had already changed it to Classic.
