P: Support scalable user interface UI for high resolution monitors

I'm using a high resolution monitor(2560x1600). As a result, all the the toolbar fonts and menu fonts are small and hard to see. I do not want to lower the screen resolution as this would defeat the purpose of this monitor.. Will the new CS6 have the ability to increase font sizes to accommidate Hi-Res monitors?

Thanks

This thread seems to get away from an answer to why the new Photoshop is stuck at a huge magnification. I understand the need for it to be larger for some people, but what about those of us who don't want the UI taking up so much room?

Seems like this should be a simple preference, so artists can modify as needed, since it's many artists using the software. Currently, my solution is to just use the older version of Photoshop. With the fees we pay for the use of these products, it seems like fixing major issues would be a priority. Is Adobe working on a solution for this?

As already noted several times - there were serious problems in the Windows scaling APIs. We spent a lot of time working with Microsoft to work around or fix those issues in the Windows code.

While I imagine there might be some good solutions there, I'm guessing that the technical level of expertise needed (based on the comments) is far beyond that of most artists or photographers. But thanks anyway....

That's a video about how to enable your Windows programs to automatically scale based on the DPI of each monitor connected to the system. No need for a separate preference in the "Experimental features" section.

OK, so that explains why I'm not seeing the issue on my retina MBP. Lol, once again the MacOS invisibly takes care of the issues before they happen. But on my Win7 box with 1920x1200 primary display, the text size in menus has gotten straight-up miniscule with CC2014, with no fix by modifying size setting within prefs. THAT is what is maddening, this wasn't the case in the past and it's the same OS/monitor. Screenshots avail if you want 'em. I've seen some discussion here and elsewhere that links Wacom drivers to this. Any illumination from you on that one? Thx...

The interface size was an issue once high res displays were released. And before CC 2014 (and a few OS fixes) we could not support UI scaling on those displays. MacOS UI scaling is automatic, and works just fine in Photoshop CS6 and later.

I can appreciate that, Chris - I realize that your hands are tied in many aspects by the limits of the OS. But it still begs the question of why (under the same OS as before) the interface size was NOT an issue in pre-2014 CC. And as I'm guessing you are aware, these interface size issues are not limited just to Photoshop.... the interface element sizes in Illustrator and InDesign are near-comical. But thanks for the reply, and for the implicit admission that there actually **IS** an issue. I'm considering grabbing a nice high-rez monitor for the Mac, but from what I can see, releases for THAT host OS are also having UI size issues, so maybe I'll save my $$ for right now.

We are still working with Microsoft to make the scaling APIs more flexible. But we can't get everything working as quickly as we'd like, and wanted to get the most common scaling issue out and available instead of waiting for all the final fixes.

No, ACR has not yet picked up all the changes make in the Photoshop code.
