Pen tool - request feature - add colour into negative space inside a shape

PEN TOOL

I make a shape with the pen tool, I then make a smaller shape on top and subtract it from the larger shape underneath, thus creating a hole.

I still want to be able to manipulate the shape, I dont want to rasterize it, I want to keep as a shape.

But i want to fill the 'hole' inside with flat colour.

There is currently no way of doing this, only making the colour inside as a separate layer.

But I want to be able to manipulate the whole selection still.

Please photoshop, can you work on this feature?
