Photoshop for Chromebook

I'm really confused on how Adobe allows me to purchase a Photoshop plan, but doesn't allow Chromebook users ability to use their app especially when allowing them to use Lightroom.

I hope they're able to change this in the near future.

This is somewhat reminiscent of the Photoshop for Linux thread. I don't think that the ChromeOS market is large enough to justify Adobe making Photoshop for it. Too many ChromeOS devices are very, very limited in their hardware capabilities (obviously, not the ones referenced in this discussion), so the percentage of them that are capable of running Photoshop probably isn't very large. I would be happy to be proved wrong, of course. The more options for platform, the merrier. It just has to make business sense.

That's unlikely, given that Creative Cloud & Photoshop work ONLY on these desktop versions of Windows or Mac.

  • Windows 11 (64-bit) versions 24H2, 23H2; Windows 10 versions 22H2, 21H2;
  • MacOS 15 (Sequoia), 14.7 (Sonoma), 13.6.7 (Ventura).

Good thing many ChromeOS devices come with 1TB or more drives. We have a pair of 2 TB in ours. I do hope Adobe considers ChromeOS in the future.

Photoshop's scratch disk requirements are a big factor in usability. I couldn't work with less than 600 GB of free HD space.

Many Chromebooks have plenty of hard drive space, CPU, GPU, and RAM. The cheaper $200-300 Chromebooks are popular, but there are some real beasts of a system running ChromeOS. We have two at work with Intel Core i7-14700K, 32 GB Ram, and RTX 4070.

I'm not sure how well it's going to work, but give Photoshop for Web and Lightroom for Web in Google Chrome on your Chromebook a try.

Absolutely. Or add more tools for Photoshop Express and a better format.

The lightroom app is pretty good for Chrome, but Photoshop Express is so
blah.

You'll find compatible Chromebook apps in the Google Play Store.

A Chromebook hasn't got sufficient hard drive space, CPU, GPU, RAM and operating system to support pro-level tools like Photoshop & Lightroom Classic.

See Photoshop System Reqirements. Most Creative Cloud apps work on:

  • Windows 11 (64-bit), Windows 10 versions 22H2, 21H2, 21H1;
  • MacOS 14 (Sonoma), MacOS 13 (Ventura), 12 (Monterey), macOS 11 (Big Sur).
