Photoshop: Provide an HTML5 alternative to Configurator for CC 2014 and onwards

Now that Flash is gone from the most current version of Photoshop some users who used Configurator Panels to streamline their work processes seem to be surprised by this development or having problems with re-creating their former Flash Panels as html5 Panels with Eclipse.

There is no denying that
• the move had been announced,
• Configurator was a free goody and
• one should be able to emulate most of the Flash Panels’ functionality with Eclipse.
But as far as I’m concerned Configurator’s ease of use is sorely missing so far.

So it would seem to be much welcome if an application akin to Configurator for html5 Panel creation were developed and released for those users whose Photoshop customization needs go beyond Actions, Keyboard Shortcuts and Menus but who are lacking in html5 savvy.

Thank you all for the feedback.

Please also hit the »+1« button if you haven’t already, a large number would probably help anybody at Adobe who agrees argue the case when it comes to allocating resources.

I strongly agree. I love to use Configurator and I'd like to use it in the future, too. I can't go back to a life without Configurator.

I guess many people feels the same, and for most of them, Extention Builder is too difficult. Photoshop users are not programmers, but they still needs their own personalized panels.

I for one did not see the announcement of Adobe moving on from flash panels. Doesn't matter, what's done is done. I don't think Adobe knew how many of us used Configurator to build our own panels. They aren't something that is easy to share as most are for individual users. For example, many of my panels are for selecting Tool presets.

Having some other option than trying to figure out coding and Extention Builder would save many us a lot of headache and also something that I would promote the use of. I've already converted several people to using configurator and setting up their own custom panels.

Yes. Please provide a Configurator alternative. Until there is one I will not be using CC 2014.

Configurator for me is not a luxury, its essential. If Adobe had given it more publicity (I found it on Adobe Labs purely by chance) its passing would be causing far more outrage than it is now. If they were to produce an Html version and promote it, I know it would be incredibly popular.

I would agree that there need to be an easy way for non coders to produce panels like Configurator - Perhaps have Muse be able to generate the panels. I've been playing around with the new html extension panels, and I know that few non-coders would dare dive into that.

»Why not have a Configurator 5.0 that can load all our old panels and export them as HTML5 panels?«
I certainly can’t judge how complex such an application would have to be (and consequently how much resources it would take to develop) but it would seem the most convenient solution for most Configurator users, me included.

Agreed. I understand why Adobe moved on from Flash to HTML5 panels, but I don't understand why so many Configurator users are left in the rain. In my humble opinion, Configurator was a great solution for users who are not that code savvy but smart enough to build a few buttons that run JSX scripts etc... Why not have a Configurator 5.0 that can load all our old panels and export them as HTML5 panels? On Adobe Exchange I see heaps of Flash panels that were done with Configurator that will most likely just become obsolete otherwise... :'(
