Photoshop: Support for Cryptomatte

Please add a plugin for photoshop for cryptomatte just like the EXR-IO plugin, which is very effective. This would be really helpful especially for architects and interior designers who use Adobe Photoshop for post production work; without the need for learning or switching to a new software like Nuke and Fusion, just to be able to take advantage of Vray Cryptomatte.

I'm wondering why there is still no import of EXR with cryptomatte on the Mac.
I always have to open the EXR from C4D on my PC in order to compose it on my Mac studio.
It can't be that difficult to integrate the ingenious exr-io into the new Photoshop for mac.
Or am I wrong?
There is already the ProEXR_v2.6_mac but unfortunately there are no Cryptomatte masks

Hello,
i have read many feature requests about how Photoshop should import Exr or Cryptomatte layers, so i thought it would be good to post the solutions.

First one is Exr-IO (www.exr-io.com) a free plugin for automatic OpenExr reading with all layers and extra features.

Second is a free Script which allows artist to create automatically from any number of masked layers from either cryptomatte or simple grayscale layers.
you can find the tutorial and the free script here:
https://youtu.be/VCasmKdRLc4

I hope this can help you for the start while trying to compose your art.

thanks and if you have any ideas to this development, please feel free to write it here so we can implement it 🙂
thanks

Hi Jeffery;
here is one that works with Cryptomatte:

https://www.exr-io.com/exr-io-2-00/

Exr-IO with full Cryptomatte support and probably all EXR features which exist at the moment.

enjoy
best regards

I can reach out the Cryptomatte developers, but we have a Plug-in SDK that's publicly available: https://www.adobe.com/devnet/photoshop/sdk.html & a partner program: https://helpx.adobe.com/support/programs/adobe-support-for-developers.html. If they have questions or concerns they can get help from myself and Thomas Ruark developing a plug-in for Photoshop.

Two years without response ?

adobe being on the stock market, we can not expect much from them unfortunately....

this feature should have been implemented for a long time.

Ask for functionality on the chaos group forum and they answer you in the day if it's possible or not.

A another world....

yes please implement cryptomatte. as a 3d artist, i'm using otoy's octane render which also generates cryptomatte layers. it's going to be a standard for high end image compositing...
