Make it an installable PWA

Picking this back up, I see PsW is now an installable PWA which is great! Two improvements:

  1. Set the icon as "maskable." This allows the icon to fill the available space which will look much better. More details: Adaptive icon support in PWAs with maskable icons.
  2. Implement tabbed application mode. This allows users to work with more than one canvas at a time, making the PWA look and feel even more native. More details: Tabbed application mode for PWAs.

For a real-world example, check out Figma's ChromeOS manifest.

@Poppy Tian

How I  think a PWA would improve your cross-platform experience?

PWA use temporary files to work wihtout internet, you can make something similar as a native app with Electron and then cross-distro Linux using Flatpak.

@Poppy Tian Having PsW as an installable PWA would make it look and feel more like a native platform app. For example, on my Chromebook I have VS Code installed as a PWA. It places an icon in the launcher and looks great. This would be a great value add for PsW.

There's also the business case of PWAs to consider. Lots of evidence how this drives conversion and retention.

@Lucas Gabriel Moreno You should be able to use PsW in your browser on any platform that supports Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. How do you think a PWA would improve your cross-platform experience? Are there other aspects of PWA that you think would be useful to you as well?

Hi @CShubert,

This method doesn't work, because https://photoshop.adobe.com/ has no PWA format like Facebook, Youtube, TikTok, etc.

Adobe must adjust this site by adding web app manifest and cache, fetching resources, registering the service, etc.

This will be useful for Adobe cause will decrease their servers effor.

Thanks!

Hi @youssefallali thank you for the suggestion.  For others that may not know what PWA is, here is some info:

"You can install the PWA for faster access and additional functionality, like more storage for content to use offline.
Install a PWA

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to a website you want to install.
  3. At the top right of the address bar, click Install .
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the PWA."
