Simpler Liquify Tool in Photoshop

Whenever I hop into Liquify and try to use the Forward Warp tool for a subtle change, I always have to make a significant stroke first before anything happens, which can throw off my vision. To deal with this I often use the smudge tool to make a subtle change, but obviously, it smudges my art. Ibis Paint and CSP have tools to make this all easier, why doesn't Photoshop?

Just have to respond to my own post a year later to mention another thing that bothers me, which is that as an artist, taking steps fast is the key to maintaining the end vision, and having to hop into another window to make a small adjustment kind of throws me off sometimes, especially with the tool still not being as smooth to use as any other brush/smudge/mixer tool, regardless of the settings. This is probably just a skill issue, but I still believe a simpler tool like in ibisPaint or CSP would make the program a lot more user friendly. Don't flame me, please.

Did you try work with a very low brush pressure? Like 5 or 10? I always work with a very low pressure brush
