Smart Objects when Pasting in Photoshop

When trying to paste an object as a Smart Object from anywhere ex. Illustrator, in Photoshop, one can only Scale or Skew but not Distort. One has to convert the pasted object as a Smart Object once again.

This shouldn not happen. I recommend Adobe to fix this very old issue! Thanks for your support.
