Unlimited Lens Blur

The lens blur filter is quite nice, especially when using a depth map.

But why is the radius limited? I would like to be able to create very large rings to create more expressive imagery. Also it would be nice to adjust the appearance of the iris. Some dust, outlines, like a real lens.

Any ideas?

    A maximum radius of 500 (or even 1000?) instead of 100 would really help me out. I use the filter on (very) large images with highly detailed depth maps. Anyone?
