Why is webP not available under Save for web? this would make the work of web developers easier.

You jumped in on a thread from three years ago, when it was also properly moved to the Photoshop forum.

Please read the post from @PECourtejoie to see how to save files in the webp format. You can use File > Save a Copy or change your Preferences to have it show up in Save As.

“Save for Web (legacy)” dates back to 1998 and will never be updated.

Hi, this forum is catered for developers of Photoshop plugins, not web developers. SFW has the legacy suffix, it means that we should not expect changes or addition.

WEBP is a standard format now: https://helpx.adobe.com/be_en/photoshop/kb/support-webp-image-format.html

Which function of SFW do you need for this format that Save as does not offer? IMHO, it could be added to Export As.

Here is a page with some recommended settings: https://gregbenzphotography.com/photography-tips/exporting-webp-files-from-photoshop/

It does not matter that this page is not for web developers. WEBP is standardized by Google. Take a look at their images.

Exporting it is ridiculous. WEBP should be a saving option, i.e. save as or save copy (to be more current with the last updates).
