Adding an In point from a transcript gets cleared/deleted in the Source Monitor when adding the Out point, and vice versa.

After I generate a transcript, I start making the rough cut directly from the dialog. But, when I click on the first word of a sentence and set an In point, and then click on the last word of the sentence to set the Out point, the selection in the Source Monitor disappears. There are other ways to do this, like click dragging the selection, scrubbing in the Source, or setting the In point and playing the video in real time until the Out point is reached. But in general this seems like a bug. I should be able to set the In point and then click around the transcript without it being affected.

This has been an issue for multiple releases, but current software is: Windows 11 26200.9457, Premiere 26.3.2 Build 2

Turn OFF the “Automatically set in/out points” icon in the Transcript tab. With that on, every click resets. With it off, you can set the in point, and then click or play until you get to the desired end point, and set the out point.

I just tested in PR 26.5.0 on Win 11, and working as designed there.

    Perfect, thank you @Stan Jones

Funny, I’m constantly using Search, Split, and Merge but never paid attention to the Auto In/Out literally right next to them. Face palm moment, but always learning!

It’s always on for me, and your post pointed how important being OFF is to a workflow like yours.

I and others requested that the state indicator be clearer: the very faint background color change is very difficult to see.
