Allow information in the "comment" field from Source Clips transfer to Subclips

Is it possible to have information entered into the "comment" bin field transfer to subclips from masterclips. Information logged in "scene" and "description" do. Why not "comment"?

This is important because Adobe will not let you add or change headings in Media Browser. So if you're looking at material from other projects "comment" is the only user addresable text field you have for descriptive clip info. Plus it should transfer anyway, like the others.

Also, is it possible for custom text metadata fields to transfer to subclips from masterclips? I've created some to tag and categorize a very big library of content.  And some to get around bugs in the Media Browser ingest process that resets clip names to defaults as they pass through Media Encoder. When I create subclips they are blank of the information entered into the masterclip filed.

Hopefully there is something I am overlooking.

Thanks.

Kevin,

Thank you for your notice.

There are some real problems in the subclip and separately in the overall media browser workflow when it comes to sharing assets across projects or personnel.

You can see some of this mentioned in my previous posts. At every turn there is a gotcha.

And it turns out some of the issues I described in this post are the exact opposite due to delayed update of metadata in bins. Sometimes even requiring a bin close and open to update the fields.

I don't want to be too criticial of Adobe developers in these forums. It is a tough job and a stacked deck.

Is there anyway we can have a short dialog via email or otherwise.

I'm a 30 year industry vet and experienced editor with frontline projects in large organizations. Presently working for a reasonably sized Adobe customer.

Really need to find a way around these issues before we abandon ship.

If we can't get solid, robust, flexible media management. None of the bells and whistles matter.

Thanks

Cam
