Allow us to use the old "new project menu"

When starting a new project you are greeted with a screen showing many thumbnails of clips. I would much prefer if the screen had no thumbnails and just let me select a location and filename, it feels like a waste of resources to load all of the thumnails and videos when I have no use for them. There used to be a new project window that allowed you to select scratch disk as well which seems infinitely more useful than selecting clips, it would be great if we could get that back or better yet, allow us to open premiere without first creating a project like After Effects.

The "import page" could definitely have some tweaks.

I don't see any thumbs though, as I simply clicked on a different thing on the left side panel so all it's showing is folders. Which take no resources to load.

The scratch disk option of the old format was dumped because, as the vast majority of users never used that option, it was rarely invoked. It's sticky, once you have them where you want, why would you change them? I never do.

So that made sense to me.

NOT being able to simply tab to Create after typing a Name, selecting Location ... no, that is not sensible. Why do we need to then grab the mouse to navigate clear to the far corner?

And recently, I found out that the Import page is actually the best, and probably most reliable way, to add complex and spanned media to a current Premiere project. Easier and as good if not better than the MediaBrowser panel for that process ... huh.

Plus of course, in the upper right is an option to copy media to disk from card, and do checksums on the copies. I don't often need that, but it's nice to have. I've missed that since they discontinued Prelude.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...
