Audio meters or spectrum visualizers using audio tracks or mix as visual element in video

I’d like a nicer way to add audio meters or spectrum as a visual animated graphic within the video. Instead of the quite manual and clunky way to do it in After Effects using the audio spectrum and having to generate keyframes.

The effect could use either a specific audio track or audio mix to generate this visual effect.

As soon as one make a slight change to audio mixing or timing then the generated visual After Effects graphic will be outdated. Would be nice to avoid this :-) 

Might be plugins or similar that can do similar but not something available today built-in which I’d really appreciate if it could be added.

Of course the same effect could/should be added to After Effects :-)
