Automatic beat detection

Premiere pro needs a feature to automatically place markers on beats of audio tracks such as 1bar, 1/2 beat, 1/4 beat etc. Elements had this yet now it's gone and is an industry standard technique.

It's a basic function to you, but one that most editors will never use.  I would have no issue with adding as an effect, understand, I'm all for adding new stuff.  I'm explaining why it's not already there.

I think a lot of color tools should "already be there" in Premiere, that sadly, most editors would never use. But at least, I'm realistic about the percentage of people who would actually use the stuff I'd love to have. Not ... very many, truthfully.

Auto beats detection is a basic fundamental audio function that should be native. It shouldn't be dependant on a 3rd party add-on - regardless of costs.

The "pro" apps have tended to assume that one either controls such things manually or buys plugins for specialized things like this. Like BeatEdit from aescripts.com.

As someone who works for/with/teachers pro colorists, with spendy rigs and monitors, working in Resolve or Baselight ... all the folks I work with have the full Boris and probably a couple other "suites" of things available.

Editors seem to think paying a one-timw $25 fee for a plugin outrageous. I find this all rather humorous.

And btw ... I've got the full Red Giant Universe, personally ...

Been searching for this too. I'm blown away that in 2024 Adobe doesn't have the capability or technological knowledge to do this. Even Capcut has this feature. It's mindblowing.

An option where you could toggle the timeline to a beat-based timeline > Promt to enter or detect a BPM of an audio track > choose timing (1/8 notes as a default).

Could be great for music video editing or really any standard project that cuts to a beat.

There is a plug-in for that, check at aescripts.com ... just as a practical note.

Beat sync, like synchronize music with videos to the beat of the music for example, like CapCut and TikTok.

Dear community,

Adobe Premiere Elements sports a cool Beat Detection feature, unfortunately the Pro version doesn’t.
Why is that? And why can't paying CC subscribers use the Elements version for free? Or do I miss something?

Kind regards,
Tim

You are right, it is not available in Premiere Pro.

But I developed this 3rd party plugin Beat Edit which adds beat detection to Premiere Pro.

It is compatible with CC2014 and newer. It detect the beats and also (optionally) additional rhythmically relevant points. Then you can generate sequence or clip markers at these beats, which is helpful both as guides for manual editing and for automatic edits with "Automate to Sequence".

Here is a tutorial showing the general functionality of BeatEdit

Very clever and very impressive work on this extension to PPro.

FWIW: Just a comment about "editing to beats" and my opinion -  for readers/editors...

Its not always best to use the beat as the edit point ( cut point).  Placing the action on the beat instead of the "cut" is sometimes more dynamic and sometimes the better choice for flow.

Beat cuts can be very mechanical looking.

This software would  easily aid that  edit decision.  ie  its the cut or the action on the marker.
