Better project management

We often need to collect the project for transfering or archiving purposes. When collecting - all assets will be collected in one folder which is a bit messy....it would be great if files can be collected in 2 ways:
- following the Premiere project bin structure
Or
- following the folder structure on hard drive
That would help us a lot in keeping the collected projects organized.

My main gripe with the Project Manager is that it only works skin deep.

It does copy over dynamically linked AEP files to your archive, but omits any assets that were used in that AEP file. It has happened to me that I opened a previous project from an archived disk, only to discover that the company logo that was once part of the animation (inside an AEP file) was not stored on the disc. This can be really crucial.

Please implement this, Adobe! If After Effects Dependencies does this, the Project Manager should. Also needed is a Dependencies > Reduce Project function in Premiere. Project Manager can exclude unused clips when copying to a new location, but it can't reduce the current project. Thanks!

Hello,
"Trimming" is indeed a good definition for "Removing only unused frames but keep same codec, same quality, metadata, .. without transcoding".
It is part of some known NLEs consolidation feature, but not all of them, and Premiere Pro does not have this feature for now.
That's why we (Autokroma) created our Third Party Plugin "PlumePack" for Premiere Pro. It is a "Project Manager" plugin which consolidates your project. More than offering additionnal features for the "Only copy" compared to the native Project Manager, the Premium version allow the user to "Trim" its media based on their use in the current project. With it, you can save a lot of disk space without changing codec, quality and metadata of your files.
Also, the main topic discussed here : following the initial media folder structure for the final project folder is one of the setting PlumePack has !
Best,
Nicolas from Autokroma

Thanks for all the feedback so far.

It is one of many areas we are looking into.

Isn’t it! An absolute useless feature. Better to take it away and include PlumePack Pro. Tried consolidating over the weekend. Wasted HOURS and gave up

ADOBE--IT IS ABSURD THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESS FOR OVER 4 YEARS.

For those of us working inside large, networked environments with other editors, producers and assistants, the need for clear, accurate archiving is imperative. While Project Manager works after a fashion, it is in dire need of modernization.

As mentioned in this thread, simply recognizing, maintaining and utilizing the bins structure in a project will be an excellent step forward.

Having the capability to customize and store presets will be a solid second step.

Building in the ability, should the operator require it, to direct an existing bins structure to one created/imported/preset inside Project Manager will be a welcome third step.

Or you might just leap three steps ahead with the next update -- how about it?!

Bonjour,

If your cc plan have After Effects then just import the Premiere Pro project into After Effects and collect the files from there. It will maintain the bin structure according to your Premiere Pro project. This will also save you some money instead of buying any 3rd party plugin. Believe me I'm using this for more then 2 year and its work perfectly.

PlumePack (third party "Project Consolidation" plugin for Premiere) could help you ! The current version allow you to consolidate your project (Plumepack it !) from the "Bins" structure in Premiere Pro.
In the next version in Beta, you can also choose a new mode to organize your final structure folder : directly from the initial folder structure on Disk.
Note that the copy mode is free to use ! Only trimming without encoding needs a Premium license.
