Better tools for Consolidate Media

I appreciate the existence of the "Consolidate Media" function, but the lack of any customizability is extremely frustrating. There's no ability to choose which version you'd like to keep, so often times the version I had well organized in a bin disappears, and the version I'd like to get rid of is the one that stays. Some sort of ability to set which bin should keep the media and which bin should have the media removed from it would be super nice.

Furthermore, there's no ability to manually override when Premiere doesn't recognize two clips as the same, even when they're linking to the same file and have the same name. It would be extremely nice to have the ability to tell Premiere "these two items are the same, can you please consolidate them".

Also, I'm not sure why Premiere so often imports duplicate media even when the "allow import of duplicate media" box is unchecked. These duplicates are starting to drive me a little crazy.

This blow my actual mind as someone who is now trying to consolidate media that knows where it links to, AND HOW IT WAS LINKED TO THE SAME FILE. I have over 300 files in this project, now I have some odd 530 because a new SSD was dragging files into the project (FROM THE SAME SSD) and it doesn't have a damn clue what is going on. This is so frustrating!!!

Wholeheartedly agree, as someone who does a lot of tech work in Premiere involving Productions, this is especially important. Managing source clips in Premiere needs an overhaul.

It would be nice if Adobe created a dialogue box/panel to be able to manually consolidate clips, especially in the cases that you're referring to . When dealing with a production project, being able to manually link to the correct files, or at the very least see the metadata mismatches to troubleshoot, would be a lot better than to just see the function run but get no feedback other than the files not going away. Even getting a report that tells you which files were consolidated and which where and why would go a long way!
