Can I please see my font colour as I pick from the pallet

For years in Photoshop; you select your text - which covers it in a semi-grey banner, but when you open your colour picker, the banner vanishes and you get to see your chosen colour applied to the font *without* having to de-select it to see how it suits it's surroundings.
Can we please have this basic functionality in Premerie? I know we can change the color from the 'Effect Controls' panel without drag-selecting the text, but that's only after typing and is a blanket colour switch for all text in the box.
