Clip Markers don't update with remapping

I'm making training video. Only one clip on the timeline right now.

1.  Added clip markers to highlight button presses and at the beginning/end of sections that needed to be sped up by 400% (loading screens)
2.  Sped up both sections, back to front, with an un-edited section in the middle
3. Dragged out the 4 split handles to ease into the speed effect
4. When I looked back at the timeline, the markers for button presses were shunted to sit at arbitrary points in the second remapped section, fixed relative to the beginning of the clip, not on the frame they were supposed to mark.

I expected markers to

• scale the distance between any markers in a sped-up section proportionally
• maintain the spacing between any markers in a contiguous section of the same speed, and between them and the end of the most recent remapping change before them
• stay with the same frame in the original, un-remapped clip

Currently they treat the clip as though it hasn't been remapped, only marking time since the beginning of the clip, regardless of what's happening at that point.
