This would be great. Combined with the ability to pin tabs, so they stay at the beginning of the row. And not just for sequences, also for bins, the effects, etc. Right now it's just a mess to scroll through large projects.

Great idea, especially if it worked in AfterEffects as well.

Here in 2022 to upvote this...would be fantastic for larger project with multiple sequences that need to be pulled from.

We definitely need this feature. This is the only way you can open another version of project and not get confused which one is which. Which sequence is from which project. Also when you have Rough Cuts sometimes you can get confused and edit not the latest version just because you opened it for a second and forgot to close. There are so many use cases for sequence colored tabs.

I'm not a coder, but if I can color code sequences in the project, why can't that color swatch be married to the sequence tabs?

I have been wanting this feature for years and it has become even more dire since every project now has multiple deliverables and specs. If I can color-code my sequence tabs, I can easily see which sequence is 16x9, which is square, which is vertical, etc etc etc. Please add this to the next update and give us this versatility!
