Continuous playback while logging

I've wanted this for so long. The closest I've got recently is using the Excalibur plugin to make automated macros to label in to out points of a clip with one shortcut. That's just colour labels though, not text. 

Oh yeah, that would be equally useful.  Let's hope these reach the eyes they need to!

I've also requested having the ability to make duration markers during playback ... say you tap a key to 'drop' the marker, let up to drop the 'end' of the marker.

Oh yeah I transcribe everything but I still need ot watch the footage.  So what I'm talking about is watching in real time with the ability to make and write something like "broll, sunset, dog, etc.  Or write my thoughts about the shot as it's playing.

Are you using the transcribe capability? I love that as it drove me nuts listening to clips to get a specific quote or check where something was said.
