Convert highlighted text from transcript into marker

As great as the transcription tool is for some things, I rely on markers for a lot of other things, and I wish the two functionalities worked a little more hand in hand. There's one specific functionality I'd love to see:

1. Highlight text in the transcipt.

2. Push your Add Marker shortcut, and a marker is created with the highlighted text in the Comments of the marker.

I don't think so. If I'm highlighting text for a marker, I'd want the marker to include the text. And if I didn't, that's an easy enough thing to delete in the Markers window. I'd like the default to be the marker comment including the text.

Taking this idea several steps further, it'd be incredible to have the option where the highlighted text is summarized by AI and then that's added to the marker, as this is much closer to how I actually use markers in relation to transcripts (sometimes I'll include specific lines in the marker comment, but more more often than not I'm paraphrasing). But I'd want this to be an option along with what I've described already, not the only way to populate marker comments from transcripts.

@defaultd18f5ajgk1yx Got it. Is there ever a scenario where you wouldn't want the highlighted text added to the marker?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I do know about adding markers in the Text panel. It's the automatic adding of the text to the marker that I'd really like to see.

@defaultd18f5ajgk1yx Thanks for the suggestion, I'll make sure the team sees it.

We do have support for markers in the Text Panel; you can highlight some text and hit your keyboard shortcut for a marker and a ranged marker will be added to the clip or sequence. You can click the Timeline View Options button in the bottom right of the Transcript and in there check the box for "Markers" to then show those markers in line in the transcript.

The only bit we don't have is the automatic adding of that bit of text to the marker.
