Default Sorting options..... its 2025.

Can we please get a default option on sorting media? Currently the default sort is by framerate in my project window and there is not way to change that. I'm so tired of having to change it manually for every single project. It seems like something that would be really simple to implement. And the default sort set in bin view is user order. Both of these default sorting options dont help my workflow and are just annoying to change all the time.

I always want to sort by name. I have a standard file structure where I will almost always label my folders with numbers so they appear in the order I want them to be in. I also do a lot of event filming, so I am looking for my footage sequentially because that's the order things happened in. The fact that Frame Rate is the default sorting column is kind of insane... I guess I have a difficult time understanding why someone would want footage sorted by that. (I mean, I'll switch to that if I'm looking for a certain clip, BROLL is sometimes at 59.94 and interviews are at 29.97, but for the most part, name is the most useful default sorting order.)

I know right! 7 Months later and still no change. We got an adobe response though, so hopefully that changes things. It’s crazy to me that someone out there thinks things should be sorted by framerate by default. How do they work. I’m like you, and I use it occasionally but it would never be my main choice. User Order makes even less sense to me.

@Nelson1234 providing an option to change the default is something we're considering. A shorter term option is also to just pick a better default; framerate doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

For list view and icon view, what would your prefernce be for sort order?

I would prefer the default sorting order in all views top be by NAME. Thats the most logical thing to me and I believe most would agree. If I could only pick one default sorting order, it would be by NAME. When I’m pulling my clips to the sequence I would like everything in the order it was filmed, that is why NAME is the most helpful.

Sometimes I’ll be halfway culling through footage, not realizing that I never changed my sorting order at the beginning. The project files were sorted by framerate the whole time and I’ve been looking through the clips completely out of order. Its incredibly frustrating when this happens. Its a big buzzkill to a workflow.

I appreciate your response, glad to hear you guys are considering it, and I really hope to see a change.
