Effect Presets: double-click in Effects Panel vs dragging to Effects Control Panel

If you have an effects preset consisting of multiple effects:

When you apply it by dragging preset from Effects Panel to Effect Control Panel, it's applied correctly.

When you apply it by double clicking on it in Effect Panel, only the first of the muliple effects will be applied.

I see this has been noted before, and the answer is "expected behavior." Expected by whom? If it's expected behavior, then please put it in the manual, folks. That's why I have the online manual bookmarked.

I'd ask for doubleclick to apply the whole preset. More consistent, and dragging the mouse is slower and more effort than a doubleclick.

Hi @defaultt6hkb4gnwq98,

Thanks for writing in. This sounds like a feature request. I will move it to Ideas for you.

Thanks,
Kevin

Effect vs Preset: we started on the wrong foot

The only way to get the entire multi-effect preset onto the clip is to drag the preset to the Effect Control panel.

That is the way to go or drag it onto a clip in the timeline.

Maybe its a mac things but I am not seeing only the first effect in the combination appears on windows 11 /Pr 23.6

Maybe you need to update Premiere.

Thanks; I thought 1st sentence "If you have an effects preset consisting of multiple effects" was clear enough.

Strictly Macs here so I can't verify if it's a Mac thing, and it's not worth updating Premiere mid-season.

FWIW, other entries indicate this has been "expected behavior" for a while.

I hope the subject title is clear enough -- one reason I posted was I felt other entries didn't describe the issue very clearly. And I stand by my request: consistent behavior please, adding the entire preset whether dragging or double-clicking.

First post and 2nd post are different topics (bugginess with applying multi-effect presets, vs accessing Preset Properties panel).

To rephrase original idea: I double-click any effect, whether it's my user-saved preset or not, and an effect is always added to the clip. But if my user-saved preset is a combination of effects, only the first effect in the combination appears. The only way to get the entire multi-effect preset onto the clip is to drag the preset to the Effect Control panel. HTH

1st post you were using a preset, now you are using an effect. An effect does get added to the clip.

With a clip selected, I double-click on any effect in the Effects panel and it appears in the Effect Controls panel, applied to the clip. If I right-click on an effect, I can choose the Preset Properties panel. So I suspect it's a preference setting. Danged if I know where - I'm not seeing it. I'm on Mac OS, PPro v23.0.0
