Expandable groups or nested layers on the timeline

Feature request:

Nested groups should be expandable on the timeline rather than nested into a seperate sequence - or the option to do both should be available. Or there should be a different feature called "timeline group" or somtehing, whereby you can group clips on the timeline and expand or collapse on the timeline whenever you choose.

Workflow example:

I am working on a music video with a live recording of the track with mics for different instruments and vocals. Each is recorded onto a seperate track.

I then recorded the musicians playing the song over the recorded track with no mics just through the camera - and this needs to be synce'd to the pre-recorded live track. The idea is to have certain elements of the pre-recorded track become louder as the camera comes closer to the subject, for example the cello on the pre-recorded track can be bumped up when the cellist is closest in shot, giving the sense that the recording is live and giving a sense of space despite the sound recording being recorded seperately to the video in order to have no mics in shot.

Additional issues

There is also the problem that I need to keep the audio tracks separated, but I also have to sync each video track several times to the audio, so it would be really useful to collapse and expand them according to need. It would also be useful to be able to group and collapse and expand the groups of specific shots -especially if within that group clips can also be cut up too. This would enable the grouping of specific takes and cutting them up so that editing choices can be made per take rather than per shot, without ruining the  integrity of the clips for example by cutting parts of a clip out and then realising I wanted that part again but having to find it can be difficult.

Result

It would make organisation of the timeline similar to that of Photoshop and After Effects, making Premiere far easier to navigate and organise on large projects or projects where each take is very similar to the last but small decisions need to be made on which part of a clip to keep.

By adding features to timeline groups such as colour coding, labelling and customisable thumbnails, it would make the timeline more of a visual browser of the project than it currently is where less time is wasted going back into the project browser to find parts of clips you can no longer find on the timeline.
