Export captions as .vtt (WebVTT) files

I'd like the option to export closed captions as .vtt files. Some of my clients only accept this format, and doing it manually or with different software is either very time consuming or costly.

I'm following up to see if we can get an update on PP's ability to export to VTT files. This is would save me a lot of time in my workflow.

I think you may struggle to get people to click on an unsolicited link.

If you asked your questions within the forum, you'd likely have more success.

Yes, was only mentioning it as a workaround as AW was asking for a converter.

It's just how I've been getting round the current issue, basic captions were fine for me.

Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Again, .srt does not support the formatting features of .vtt, so it's only a workaround.

I've been using the Happyscribe free online converter:

That's a fair workaround, Paul, but part of the issue is that without .vtt support, we can't use the caption formatting features (positioning, color, etc.)

I would have thought they'd fix this by now, but I'm beginning to think about writing a conversion program in the summer when things slow down if Adobe hasn't addressed this by then.

Upload your video into YouTube, add your .SRT from Premier, then export as .VTT from YouTube.

Can anyone recommend an .srt to .vtt converter application? Not sure if Adobe is going to address this any time soon.

The new workflow for captions is fantastic but we need vtt to make it viable

Yep, Microsoft products are big in Canadian federal and provincial governments. In addition to Microsoft Stream, adding captions to videos inserted into PowerPoint (non-stream, just .mp4 embed), ALSO only accepts VTT in PowerPoint. Considering all the accessibility laws governments are adhering to, this feature is a must.
