Extend Next/Previous Edit in caption tracks

I'm not a coder but this SEEMS simple enough.

I do a LOT of trimming and timing other peoples captions.  I'm shocked that the Extend Next/Previous Edit feature and keyboard shortcut doesn't work on the caption track.  This would be INCREDIBLY useful to me and would speed up my workflow immensely.  Of course the same goes for the the Trim Next/Previous Edit too.

If this can't be done I would love to know why.
