Extend Previous/Next Edit to Playhead for captions track?

Hey Editors and Adobe Officials!

I'm a video editor on Premiere Pro & I work a lot with captions, I add captions to sometimes 15-20 min videos, and my clients like the captions done very neatly and properly, I have to thoroughly check all the captions and change their duration sometimes, for example to split sentences if the speaker is taking pauses, or adjust them smoothly to match a new camera angle by delaying changes until just before the angle shifts, and much more.

I use ripple trim (Q and W keys), and also Extend edit to playhead (Shift+Q and Shift+W). They both are extremely useful and efficient for my workflow but they do not work in the captions track even after ensuring the caption track is targeted. Ripple trim works on caption track but NOT the "Extend edit to playhead". Sometimes, the start of the caption and speaker are not perfectly synced, and in that case I need to use this feature.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or an un-added feature. Please give your feedback if you face similar situtation and I would be very thankful for this to be fixed, waiting for an official to reply and proceed with this. If you have similar issues, please upvote so we can get this feature added/fixed in the next update. Thanks.

I'm captioning 4x films right now and would love this ability. Using the Selection tool each time is getting really tiresome.

Hi @Aqib Malik

I moved your post to the Ideas forum. I will upvote.

A tip that may help you. For captions, select an edit point with the Selection tool or Rolling Edit tool. It will move to the Playhead with the shortcut "E." Just use E everywhere you'd use Q/W, and it should work OK for you.

Q/W stuff and captions are more recent additions and didn't exist in older versions, which may be why.

Cheers,
Kevin

Thanks for the upvote, I guess it's only us two desperate for this feature haha, lets hope Adobe sees it soon..

Upvoted. I think this may be moved to Ideas, since it is working more or less as designed. I think part of the problem is that the caption track is not a video track, and they have created shortcuts that apply only to captions in the timeline and the text panel.

I like your description of your workflow because it points out how important these functions are.

You correctly point out in the other feature request related to this, that having to enter edit mode makes the shortcut less useful:
