Feature Request: More options in Sequence Index

Working with clients who do finishing/turnovers on big projects and their assistant editors have to do a lot of work during conforms and onlining to pass specifically clip information on to to post audio and VFX vendors. It would be great if Sequence Index could report on more attributes like the ones listed below; otherwise they're having to rely on 3rd party tools.

  • SPEED. This is a big one. A lot of editors (especially trailer editors) tend to speed up clips to make them fit (both audio and video) and those changes need to be communciated to finishers so that online clips match. And the current EDL output shows the wrong timecode when speed changes are made (at least in v24).
  • SCALE. Likewise, seeing scale and repo info would help with conforming to online.
  • CROPS. Also good info to note when reporting on clips.

Hi @ATT, I went back to my client and here is their note. I'm not sure how much of this functionality is planned for the panel but hopefully this all helps:

"In the new sequence index it would be nice if the index followed the timeline playhead. For example if I park on clip # 22 in a sequence then the index should highlight that row in the index that has all of the information for that shot.

The AEs were mixed on what info would be best displayed for scale, crop and speed in the index. While it would be nice to see and possibly be able to adjust the values for those 3 in the index we all agreed it would be way more beneficial if whatever info was displayed was also a link that took you to the effect controls so you could manipulate the effect from its native effect control panel.

Another suggestion for the sequence index, which I think you may have mentioned is already in the testing version would be to be able to sort the index by, track, locator color, clip color, and most importantly sort by all clips that have an (active) effect currently applied to them."

@John V Knowles Thanks for the ideas – could you go into detail about what is most useful to show about those three? I understand their importance to turnovers, but, imagine there are three columns, one for speed, one for scale, and one from crop. What would you like to see in those columns? Only a yes/no if it's been adjusted? Details in how its been adjusted? What if it is keyframed?
