Feature Request: Please Bring Back Essential Graphics Panel as a Preferences Option

Hi,

Please consider bringing back the Essential Graphics Panel.  You could make it an option in Preferences, and those who want it could have it back.

The Properties Panel is a step back for me because it adds time to my workflow.  If you look at comments online, you know I'm not the only one.

For example, the alignment controls used to be on top--now they are way down.  Other things I use are harder to get to.  Also the Essential Graphics was solidly in place.  The Properties Panel seems to show up all over the place in my projects.  At first I was scrolling every time to get to the tools I wanted, but someone showed me there are drop-down arrows-- and it is not as slow as before. A helpful workaround,  but still, not as efficient as Essential Graphics was for me.

Everybody has their own way of working.  Everybody uses Premiere for different purposes.  I am sure that for many,  getting rid of Essential Graphics is an improvement.  But it will add at least a half hour or an hour to each of my projects.  That could be millions of hours for your user base.  I know you don't want that.

Follow the path that you feel is right for the future of Premiere Pro.  I respect that.  But consider giving people the option to work the way they used to.  Maybe someday the Properties Panel will have so many features, that these customers will uncheck the box in preferences and use it.  Why not let them decide?  Isn't that the whole idea of Preferences?  Workflows are unique and  the goal is to help everybody work as efficiently as possible.

Thanks for your consideration,

Reid Rosefelt

@R Neil Haugen

below the actual lines, so no specific line of the layer stack is selected ... then certain things appear.

EGP shows exactly the same behavior.

I do agree some drop down menus could be set in a different oreder.

I pretty much sympathise with your points ... that "context aware" thing is still an odd duck for me, mentally.

And we now have to remember things like to get some text options you select the text in the Program monitor, which brings those controls "up" ... then click in the Text "header" list in the Properties panel, but while within the box there, below the actual lines, so no specific line of the layer stack is selected ... then certain things appear.

That is not intuitive behavior at freaking all!

That said, I think we will have to get them to modify the Properties panel. Sadly. It can be better ... although the continual 'jumping' of controls visible drives me nuts.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...
