Feature Request: Smarter Layer Playback for Video Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro

Right now, when working with multiple video layers (especially in music videos or multicam edits), it seems like all layers are being played and encoded in real time - even the ones completely hidden underneath the top clip. This kills performance, slows down playback, and makes real-time editing painful.

Suggestion: Only the visible top layer should be actively played and encoded unless effects or opacity or effects require otherwise. This would massively improve efficiency when stacking clips, comparing shots, or building edits with multiple takes.

We shouldn’t have to constantly enable/disable layers just to maintain performance. Let the editor focus on editing. not micromanaging toggles to keep the timeline playable.

This change would save time and CPU/GPU cycles for anyone editing layered timelines, especially in high-res workflows.
